My Background
I have an educational background in medicine, public health, and women’s health, as well as experience in clinical research in the fields of cancer, heart disease, and chronic diseases with nutrition interventions. In addition, I have certifications of nutrition and healthy living from Cornell University, advanced functional nutrition from Mind Body Green, and holistic nutrition and health coaching through Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). I also enjoy yoga, and have over 200 hours of practice as an instructor.
With training in Western medicine, and experience in clinical research, I have seen an increase in preventable disease firsthand over the last two decades. Obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes, for example, are on the rise. Through personalized nutrition and lifestyle plans, we can overcome these and other diseases, slow aging, and enjoy better overall health and wellness. I aspire to help women, including moms, women over 40, and busy professionals, to assess their health and achieve wellness through personalized nutritional and lifestyle regimens.
Your Personalized Regimen
I create individualized regimens which cater to the women I coach. Nutritional and lifestyle regimens can empower us to attain wellness in a number of ways. For instance, through nutritional changes, we can reverse inflammation at the cellular level, which mitigates the effects of our natural aging process.
It’s important to realize that a real shift can be made in personal health and wellness due to nutritional choices. Food can be more than sustenance — it can be medicine for the body. By incorporating macronutrients (including protein, fat, unprocessed carbs), as well as micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) in our diets, we can nourish ourselves, relying on our bodies to naturally heal maladies. I recommend good fats from seeds and nuts, and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies for those micronutrients. A healthy diet will include unprocessed, whole, and nutrient-dense food.
Take note, a good diet can treat disease while revitalizing the body; meanwhile, calorie counting can actually be harmful when the calories consumed are from processed foods, or poor nutritional sources. Instead of these calorie-counting diets, I encourage individuals to seek nourishing food, they should place self care first, and they should make lifestyle choices to improve their health and thrive.
