As we all know, our body is made of trillions of cells , and then we have mitochondria in each cell. Our cells rely on healthy mitochondria for optimal function of essential body systems like heart, kidney, eye, brain and muscle.

Our cells and mitochondria works constantly and then they die every 21 days as a normal process of cellular physiology and then go thru cleansing and recycling process to produce new mitochondria to meet constant energy demand of muscles and other tissues. This process of mitochondrial recycling is called mitophagy.

But the problem is as we age , or as early as starting from age of 30’s : there is decline in functioning of mitochondria and dysfunctional broken down mitochondria accumulate in the cells, resulting in significant oxidative stress, aging and age related diseases.
