Beauty foods are essential for anti-aging in my experience with integrative nutrition.Beauty foods promote skin health, mood, energy levels, detox and sleep naturally. While it’s true that almost all organic food is energy enhancing, I found these 4 beauty foods that can trigger natural anti-aging processes and make you feel and look younger. Let’s learn more about beauty foods, my favorite beauty foods and their benefits.

Beauty foods promote skin health, mood, energy levels, detox and sleep naturally. While it’s true that almost all organic and natural food are inherently energy enhancing, I found these 4 great beauty foods that can further trigger natural anti-aging processes and make you feel and look younger.

Collagen

Collagen is one of the most abundant protein in our body and an essential beauty food. Our skin is made up of 75-80% collagen and it is also a major component of cartilages. The body constantly needs collagen to rejuvenate and recover. The loss of collagen can cause the skin to lose elasticity and weaken strength, the result is becoming older.

Collagen loss is a natural process that accelerates with your age. Rapid detoriation is possible due to pollution, smoking, UV rays, stress and sugar-intake. In fact, sugar is so bad for your that sugar sag can happen. Collagen is therefore a beauty food essential to look younger.

Benefits of collagen either as food or supplement include improved suppleness of skin, reduced wrinkles and nails and healthier joints and cartilages.

Naturally, collagen in diet can be found in meat, fish, eggs, citrus fruits, berries, garlic, etc. One of the best collagen peptides known as Verisol was used in the reduced wrinkles study, this formula is what I find to be the latest advancement and most effective. Sparklelife’s range contains Verisol and I find the products to be the most authentic.

Matcha

One of my favourite beauty drink, Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, traditionally consumed in Japan for health benefits and ceremoniously as well.

Green tea itself is known to improve neurological function and relaxation. Matcha is an ancient eastern Asian naturally processed green tea powder. The tea is slowly grounded so that oxidation happens and the green tea powder becomes a beauty food that is  potent mixture of flavonoids, polyphenols and vitamin C.

According to a recent research study published by the Department of Chemistry, University of Colorado Sprints, Matcha has greater health benefits compared to other green teas. They found that Catechins which are anti-oxidants are 100s of times more in Matcha compared to any other green tea.

Currently my favorite Matcha brand is Piquetea. Regular Matcha use improves mood, reduces stress, provides sustained energy levels without any nasty side-effects, and is full of anti-oxidants and vitamin C, so it’s very clarifying.

Chlorophyll

Most of us learnt about chlorophyll in high school and it solved the mystery of the color of plants. In the world of medicine, chlorophyll has been found to be beneficial for improving collagen levels, cancer (2), acne, colostomy and can also reduce body odour.

One must know that as a beauty food, chlorophyll is essential to use since a young age. In 1936, scientists from Department of Physiology, University of Liverpool published an article that showed how chlorophyll can regenerate blood. Recent study on mice shows that it can prevent obesity and is beneficial for healthy gut bacteria.

Chlorophyll is plentiful in green leafy vegetables such as alfalfa, spinach and wheatgrass. For treatments, you can get chlorophyll in liquid form or liquid gel capsule form—I like the liquid form and found Sakara Beauty Drops to work wonderfully well. I put two drops in a litre of water and drink it. It’s really good for your blood, for your skin, for your digestive system.

Alkaline Water

When you drink at least three litres of water every day, you won’t look and feel as tired even if you slept a little less on an odd day. Tiredness and under-eyes are signs of dehydration.

Alkaline water has pH of 8 or above. Having an alkaline diet can have several health benefits such as improved bone health, muscle strength, hearth health and memory among many others.

For drinking purposes we would want this pH to be derived from mother Earth and of course have no impurities or chemicals.

I find the alkaline spring water from Flow to be an amazing beauty drink. It has the perfect alkaline pH derived from natural sources. Minerals include magnesium, calcium, bicarbonate and potassium.

These are just 4 beauty foods that I truly think will make an impact on almost everyone in most health conditions and are especially beneficial to all my ladies who are 30+ and wanting to have a healthier look.
